Liepāja Symphony Orchestra is the oldest orchestra in the Baltic States. It was started in 1881, when the first Philharmonic in the Baltics was established. Liepāja Symphony Orchestra holds a special place in the national cultural life. In 2010 Liepāja Symphony Orchestra was granted the status of a national orchestra. 

Since 2015 home of the orchestra is the new concert hall of Liepāja - the "Great Amber". From 2017 - 2022 the chief conductor of the orchestra is Lithuanian maestro Gintaras Rinkevicius, but with the season 2022. / 2023. Liepāja Symphony Orchestra welcomes Guntis Kuzma as its artistic director and chief conductor. 

In the repertoire politics special attention is paid to Latvian music – the orchestra has repeatedly premiered and commissioned new works. 

The orchestra regularly makes recordings eleased by such record labels as “Odradek Records”, "Toccata Classics" and “Skani”. 

Orchestra has two times received the highest national music award – The Latvian Great Music Award, as well as numerous Latvian Recordings Awards.
