Additional information
The Flute / Piccolo is a section level position within the flute section. The current vacancy is a tenure-track position. TFOs performance calendar runs for 39 weeks, September through May, and includes 34 performing weeks, and three paid vacation weeks around major holidays during the 24/25 season.
Additional work including chamber music, education and community engagement performances, and other special events will also take place throughout the season.

  • Adhere to all organizational policies, including those in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The Florida Orchestra, Inc. and AFM Local 427-721
  • Maintain a professional level of playing
  • Ability to hear, understand, and comply with both oral and written instructions
  • Transportation to and from service locations spread throughout the Tampa Bay area
  • Flexibility to play other parts within the section as assigned by principal, including possible opportunities to play principal parts as musician availability allows

Additional salary information
Compensation (2024/25 rates)

  • $49,023.94 annual salary paid out over the course of the 39 week season
  • EMG payment equal to an additional 3% of base salary
  • +25% of base scale per service for doubling when applicable
  • 8 personal leave and 10 sick leave days per season, plus 3 scheduled paid vacation weeks
  • 194% contribution to AFM Pension fund
  • Medical and Instrument insurance provided at no cost to the musician
