British Isles Music Festival 2025
This immersive, residential course is designed for instrumentalists aged 18–32 who are passionate about chamber music and performance. Students receive daily coaching, individual lessons, and take part in public concerts alongside a distinguished faculty of international artists. With an average of 60 participants from over 25 countries, BIMF is a uniquely intimate and inspiring setting to grow artistically and connect musically. Bursaries available.

Susan Milan, former Principal Flute of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, guest principal and soloist with London orchestras, recording artist for labels including Chandos, Da Capo, Nippon Columbia, Hyperion, Cala, Divine Art and Metier. Chamber ensembles: Debussy Ensemble, Instrumental Quintet of London, London Chamber Music Group.
The woodwind professors: Susan Milan-flute, Nina Robertson-flute, Christopher O'Neal-oboe, Sergio Pires-clarinet, Paul Boyes-bassoon and Jeffrey Bryant-horn, coach the wind quintets programmed in the evening chamber music concerts.

Nina Robertson studied at the Royal College of Music with Susan Milan, winning numerous prizes including the Bronze Medal in the Shell/LSO Competition. Since then, she has forged a successful freelance career, regularly playing with London orchestras, in West End shows and recording film and TV scores. She has a chamber ensemble, 'The Hampton Trio', with cellist, Roberto Sorrentino and pianist, Paul Jeanes. Nina is also an experienced teacher and a member of the RPO Resound Educational Team.

Christopher O'Neal is principal oboe and soloist with the Orchestra of St Johns, and co-principal with the London Mozart Players. As a chamber musician, he is a founder member of the award-winning ensembles Capricorn and the Elysian Wind Quintet. During the festival, he will be giving one to one lessons, classes and coaching chamber works programmed in the evening chamber music concerts.At BIMF Christopher will be giving one to one lessons, hold classes and coaching chamber ensembles.

Since 2016, Sérgio has served as the Solo Clarinetist with the Winterthur MusikKollegium in Switzerland and, as of 2023, holds the esteemed position of Principal Clarinetist with the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra.A sought-after chamber musician, Sérgio Pires has performed alongside luminaries such as Heinz Holliger, Emmanuel Pahud, Emmanuel Ceysson, Krzysztof Chorzelski and Radovan Vlatkovic. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Hochschule für Musik der Stadt Basel. During the course, Sérgio will be giving one to one lessons, hold classes and coaching chamber ensembles.

Jeffrey Bryant, a former student of Ifor James at the Royal Academy of Music, has held principal horn positions with the London Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony, London Symphony, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. He taught horn at Guildhall School, Trinity College, and the Royal College of Music, and served as a tutor for the EU Youth Orchestra and I-Culture Orchestra. His solo recordings include the Mozart Horn Concerti and Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with the RPO. Jeffrey, an Honorary Life Member of the British Horn Society, is also the author of The Business and Jeff’s Warm Ups. At BIMF he will give one to one lessons, hold classes and coach chamber ensembles.

Philippe Honoré divides his time between chamber music, solo work, leading, and teaching. After having received top honours from the Paris Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Music in London, he was made Lauréat of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation of France in 1992 and was awarded an Honorary Associateship by the Royal Academy of Music in 2001. He was appointed Professor of Violin at the RAM in October 2012. Philippe is a former member of the Vellinger Quartet and a founder member of the Mobius ensemble. At BIMF he will give one to one lessons, hold classes and coach chamber ensembles.

𝗜𝗴𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 studied with Adelina Oprean, Sandor Vegh, Alberto Lysy and at the International Menuhin Academy. He has performed with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Nouvel Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Camerata Academica Württembergisches Salzburg. In 1994 he founded the Trio Ligeti and in 1996 won the 1st Prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition. From 1997-2006 he was second concertmaster of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra and in 2010 was appointed 1st concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra of St. Gallen. At BIMF Igor will give one to one lessons, hold classes and coach chamber ensembles.

Yuko Inoue is a professor at the Royal Academy of Music. She performs and gives master classes in Europe and Japan. In 2011-2012 she directed 'The British Viola - Romantic and Contemporary' festival which highlighted the relatively unknown viola works of early twentieth century British composers, alongside the works of current British composers. It was hosted at the Academy and was received with great enthusiasm not only by specialists but also by general public.Yuko has performed as soloist throughout Europe and Japan with many orchestras, including the Hungarian State Philharmonic Orchestra, F. Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and performs frequently with Britain's most eminent string quartets and chamber ensembles. She is a member of Fibonacci Ensemble and was a violist of the Dante Quartet (2012-2019), both based in London. She was a member of the London Sinfonietta for 10 years and has frequently appeared as a guest principal with several orchestras including the London. During BIMF she will give one to one lessons, hold classes and coach chamber ensembles.

Upon finishing his initial studies at the Royal College of Music with Professor Alexander Boyarsky, Christopher Jepson continued his education at the Hochschule fur Musik “Hanns Eisler”, Berlin, under Professor Hans-Jakob Eschenburg. After two years in the cello section of the Deutsche Symphony Orchestra, Berlin, he took up the position of Solo Cello in the Sinfonieorchester Basel. Since 2011 he is Solo cello of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Orchestra, and he plays regularly as guest principal cello in Orchestras across Europe including Luzern, Bergen, Deutsches Kammer Symphony, Berlin, and Kammerorchester Basel. At BIMF he will give one to one lessons, hold classes and coach chamber ensembles.

Born in her beloved Bologna, Italy, Gabriella Dall’Olio has inspired audiences throughout Europe and the Middle East with solo recitals and chamber music concerts for the past three decades. After training in Italy and France with world renowned professors and pedagogues Pierre Jamet, Fabrice Pierre, Jacqueline Borot, Giselle Herbert, and Anna Loro, Gabriella has recorded for international radio and television corporations, has played with major symphony orchestras, and leads an international performance career. Gabriella is Head of Harp Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, UK. At BIMF she will give one to one lessons, hold classes and coach chamber ensembles.
