What makes the LWI Competition truly distinctive is its commitment to transparency, fairness, and real-world artistic standards. The final decision is made by both the orchestra and the audience, who together select the three winners, with the orchestra holding three times the voting power. This reflects the reality of the profession: orchestras choose the artists they trust, and audiences decide whether they want to be part of the experience. By avoiding a closed jury of professors, the competition offers a more open, credible, and professional model that has already proven its strength.
The competition is part of the course and will take place on the final day, together with the final concert.
The LWI also takes place in Germany, Greece, Turkey, Mexico, Italy, Japan, and Australia.

The LWI Competition stands out for its focus on transparency, fairness, and professional artistic standards. Rather than relying on a closed jury, the winners are chosen through a combination of orchestra and audience voting, creating a more open and balanced evaluation process.
The orchestra and audience together select the three winners, with the orchestra's votes carrying three times the weight of the audience's votes. This approach reflects the reality of a musical career: orchestras choose the artists they want to work with, while audiences ultimately decide which performers they wish to support and hear.
The competition is integrated into the course itself and takes place on the final day, alongside the closing concert. This allows participants to present the results of their work in a live performance setting and compete in an environment that closely resembles real professional practice.
