Queer Urban Orchestra is seeking skilled and motivated conductors for its 2026-2027 Conducting Fellowship. This opportunity is open to aspiring conductors in the New York City area who identify as LGBTQ+. This is an unpaid opportunity that provides instruction, mentorship, and professional and artistic development. Fellows will attend the orchestra’s rehearsals and performances, have periodic opportunities to conduct the orchestra in rehearsal and performance, and work directly with QUO’s artistic leadership and musicians, both during rehearsals and in lessons. The Fellowship runs from September 2026 through June 2027.

Founded in 2009, Queer Urban Orchestra is the only orchestra specifically aligned with the LGBTQ+ community in the Northeast. This New York City-based community orchestra of over 100 volunteer musicians is dedicated to uplifting queer artistry.
