Basque National Orchestra – Euskadiko Orkestra
Today the Basque National Orchestra is one of the leading symphony ensembles in Spain. It was created in 1982, fostered and developed by the Basque Government Department of Culture. Is a nationwide symphony formation, a group strongly rooted to its community; an orchestra of its time, with extremely high standards of expectation and a firm commitment to spread knowledge of symphony music from all periods, but which places special emphasis on the creation and expansion of Basque music both inside our borders and out, through its numerous international tours and the distribution of records.
Robert Trevino has been its musical director since 2017 and will continue to lead the orchestra in the coming years. Thanks to its established, well-structured schedule, the Orchestra gives constant performances at four symphony cycles (Vitoria, Bilbao, San Sebastián and Pamplona cities), organises another two cycles of chamber music and music for children and maintains an intense recording policy essentially based on the symphony creations of Basque composers.
