The Chicago Summer Opera Orchestra Program provides instrumentalists with an intensive and rewarding opportunity to perform in fully staged opera productions while receiving direct mentorship from world-class faculty. Each summer, the orchestra performs six operas (three per session), offering participants unparalleled exposure to a diverse repertoire spanning from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary works. With its blend of performance, mentorship, and career preparation, the Chicago Summer Opera Orchestra Program is ideal for instrumentalists looking to refine their artistry, expand their professional network, and launch their careers in opera and orchestral performance.

Chicago Summer Opera — 2027 Orchestra Program
Applications are now open for the Chicago Summer Opera Orchestra Program. Instrumentalists are invited to join us in Chicago for one or both sessions of our 2027 season, combining extensive orchestral performance experience with private lessons, masterclasses, and professional development.
Program Features
Opera Performance Experience
Orchestra participants perform in multiple fully staged opera productions each session, gaining valuable experience performing a diverse range of repertoire while working with conductors, directors, professional faculty, and emerging singers.
Private Lessons
Participants receive three private lessons per session with members of our faculty, tailored to their individual artistic and technical development.
Masterclasses & Workshops
Participants take part in masterclasses, group sessions, and career and audition workshops designed to provide practical tools for continued artistic and professional development.

Tuition
$1,750 per session
Scholarships, financial aid, and work-study opportunities are available.
