About the Masterclass


This immersive week is designed for brass players who want to refine their technique, develop their collaborative musical voice, and gain fresh insight into the art of chamber performance. Through focused group work and shared musical experiences, our faculty will support participants in developing the confidence, versatility, and artistic clarity required for high-level ensemble playing. Surrounded by the calm and beauty of rural Liguria, the course offers space to learn alongside a dedicated community of brass musicians.

Daily Sessions


A combination of individual coaching and group sessions tailored to each participant. While addressing core fundamentals like sound production and technique, work will prioritise musical interpretation and ensemble repertoire, providing guidance relevant to chamber auditions, competitions, and conservatoire entrance requirements..


Concerts


Participants will perform throughout the week, gaining valuable stage experience in a real-world environment. Students will be able to watch, and perform alongside, our artists.


Chamber Music & Ensemble


Collaborative projects form the heartbeat of the course. Participants will be placed in various brass configurations—from quintets to large ensembles—encouraging deep listening and sophisticated musical dialogue between players.


Warm-up & Technique Classes


Drawing on extensive international careers in world-class orchestras and chamber groups, our faculty will lead collective warm-up sessions and technique classes. These sessions are designed to help players overcome technical boundaries and achieve the tonal blend necessary for elite ensemble performance.

A Unique Setting


Nestled in the Ligurian hills, the course takes place in a peaceful and inspiring location. Between sessions, participants can enjoy the region’s natural beauty, relaxed atmosphere, and renowned Italian hospitality, creating a balance of focused study and restorative downtime.


Who Should Attend?


This masterclass is open to trombonists aged 16 and above who are keen to develop their playing and musical understanding. Whether you are preparing for auditions, competitions, or simply looking for artistic growth and inspiration, this week offers a rich and supportive environment in which to progress.


Sport


Participants will be encouraged to stay active during the week with daily possibilities to get moving during the week.


Food


Students are responsible for their own food. Kitchen facilities are provided at all accommodation locations, and there are restaurants located in Dolcedo. A local supermarket is located in the town.


Travel


For just €5, we will collect you from Imperia Train Station on the day of arrival, and drop you off there on the departure day.
